Heather Bach, who is the Executive Director of the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation did a presentation on the history of the Foundation and provided some timely updates on the status of construction on the new hospital expansion and some department relocation information.
The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation advances the health of our community through innovation and enhancements to healthcare and services in Southeastern Alberta. The Health Foundation was established in 1996 to raise funds to support & enhance healthcare available residents of Medicine Hat and area. They handle all gifts for the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, including Community Health Care, Mental Health Services, Home Care, Recovery Center, Living Healthy and the brand new Lab Collection Site located on Carry Dr SE. The Health Foundation has given back approximate $13.4M to healthcare in the community since 1996, and last year received gifts totaling $789,000.
Heather also reviewed some of the upgrades to the operating theaters', to the teaching facilities and to the parking and access issues with the new hospital expansion. The new entrance to the hospital goes into service on Monday March 27th. She also made a point of thanking all the volunteers around the hospital to work to make patients and visitors experiences better.
She answered a number of questions, including the point that the Tim Horton's is not moving! Thanks for the great presentation.
