President's Remarks:
President Karen Blewett welcomed everyone to this special evening meeting, celebrating the 2018 Rosebowl winner and the work by our volunteers who have put on another wonderful Music Festival. Our location this evening worked well for people who wished to attend Mark Sakamoto's authors talk, which is right next door in the MH College Theater.
Karen also mentioned that this is "National Volunteers week", so it is a great time to celebrate the work of our Festival volunteers.
President Karen was also happy to announce that our Rotary Club had won a District award, which would be presented at the District Conference on May 5 - 6, 2018. Our club won the Mel Cunningham award, which goes to the Rotary Club which does the best promotion of Rotary in their community. Special kudo's go to Doug Fleming for assembling the award information and Heather Bach who does much of our Festival publicity, in conjunction with Executive Director Delynne Lorentzen.
Rotary Fun Fact:
The Rotary Club participated in the Litter Blitz this weekend, the 28th time we have cleaned our section of the highway.
- The City of Medicine Hat coordinated the Highway Cleanup, the Shoreline Cleanup and the Dog poo roundup all in one day, and had a total of 265 volunteers registered to work. They believe quite a few more people may have helped out on their own.
- The Highway Cleanup alone collected 2,200 lbs of trash, an amazing amount.
- A total of 9 Rotarians and 3 Friends of the club cleaned our roadside, adjacent to the MH College Cultural Center.

As a memento of that exceptional dedication and service, President Karen presented Brenda with a special painting, done by our own Theresa Eisenbarth to celebrate the occasion. Great work Brenda!!!
