President's Message
President's Remarks:

President Karen Blewett welcomed everyone to our "picture taking day", she commented about the great turnout and how nice everyone looked.

President Karen reminded everyone to watch for the "Making a Difference" newspaper articles which begin next Monday.  As well, she presented a number of new promotional banners that update the Rotary brand and incorporate significant color to our meetings and events where they will be shown off.

Rotary Presentations:
  • During the recent District Conference, there were two awards given out that are great cause for celebration.

First, District Governor Rick Istead was happy to present PDG Sandy Mackay with the Rotary International "Service above Self" award, a significant recognition of the "time, talent and treasure" that Sandy and Jane Mackay have put into Rotary.  The award is only given to a maximum of 150 Rotarians each year around the world and only one in any District.  A well deserved recognition and a "big surprise" for Rotarian Sandy.

Second, President-elect Chris Perret accepted the Mel Cunningham award, which is given to a club in District 5360 which best promotes Rotary in their community.  The application was based on the extensive media coverage given to the recent Music Festival through most avenues of conventional and social media.

Upcoming Rotary District Events:
  • Rotary International Convention – June 23-27, 2018 in Toronto:  This is a great opportunity for new and seasoned Rotarians to become immersed in the world of Rotary. The Club has agreed to provide an incentive of $500 for new members and $200 for existing members to attend the RI Conference.
