President's Remarks:

President Karen welcomed everyone to the meeting today.

Today's meeting is one of our monthly business meetings, focused on the Centennial Celebration on Friday June 8th. Tickets and online registration will be available after the Easter weekend. President Karen also reminded everyone that there is NO MEETING next week, due to the Easter holiday and that our next meeting will be April 9th. DG Rick Istead is expected for an informal visit, he is helping with RLI "Train the Trainer" education in the afternoon, for a number of local Rotarians, to help facilitate having the RLI sessions in the Medicine Hat area.

She also mentioned that the Rotary Board will be meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 pm, at the downtown Credit Union Building, in the Entre-Corp, Community Futures boardroom.

Music Festival Information:

Club Evening Meeting - Rosebowl Winner NEW DATE April 23, 2018: An evening of celebration of the Rosebowl winner and the end of this year's festival. At the Medicine Hat College Cafeteria.

Rotary Presentations:

President Karen spoke about the upcoming Centennial celebration, reviewing the plan for the tour of Medicine Hat for the Rotary dignitaries. As well, she reviewed the plans for the evening event, currently it is estimated there will be a maximum of 40 tables of 8 (320 attendee's) for the dinner.

She sought some feedback on a number of issues about the event and provided some feedback on the planning to date.

She circulated the invitation list, and asked for email and phone numbers for past members and friends/supporters of the Rotary club. Guests and prospective members are welcome to accompany Rotarians to the dinner, it may be a great recruitment tool. There will be pictures of a number of projects, and Kitt Brand spoke about the room layout, the memorabilia that will be displayed and the displays. A layout of the ballrooms at the MH Lodge will be published in early April.

Upcoming Rotary District Events:

District 5360 Convention: May 4 – 6, 2018: Register on District website. Early bird registration has been extended to February 15^th. The Club will provide support to Rotarians interested in attending the District Convention.
Rotary International Convention – June 23-27, 2018 in Toronto: This is a great opportunity for new and seasoned Rotarians to become immersed in the world of Rotary. The Club has agreed to provide an incentive of $500 for new members and $200 for existing members to attend the RI Conference.

Weekly Draws:

Gail Halderman was the lucky winner of the weekly draw, collecting Kona coffee and macadamia nut cookies.
Roger Roy was in attendance to win a free meal.

Roger Roy had 25 makeups from his winter holiday in Mexico.

Family of Rotary:

No update, just a reminder to keep Brenda Bauman and Deb Panabaker in your thoughts and prayers.

Minute People:

Theresa Eisenbarth did a quick update on the Medicine Hat High School Interact club. They are holding another bake sale this week, to raise money for their annual project and they have decided to take on a multiyear project, decorating a room in the new addition to the Medicine Hat Hospital. Hopefully we'll hear all about it at our annual get together on Monday evening, May 14th...put that in your calendars!
Dave Panabaker thanked those Rotarians who worked the last bingo, on Wed evening. The event contributed $316 to the monthly profit pool.
Joe Chacko advised the club that the evening meeting with the Rosebowl winner has been rescheduled to Monday evening, April 23. The meeting will take place at the MH College Cafeteria, and we will celebrate with our Festival volunteers, as well as Rosebowl winner Soren Lorentzen. Cocktails are at 5:30 pm and dinner is planned for 6:30. Please make an effort to attend this great event.
Dave Stalwick is chairing the next bingo, Wed April 4th and was looking for volunteers, which he got!
