Rotary Reminders
President Uwe reminded the club of Al Garden's upcoming birthday party, on Sat July 23 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Medicine Hat Lodge, all are welcome.
Next week's meeting is in Rotary Park, as a kickoff to Stampede. An email is going out Monday to remind everyone.
The next board meeting is Wed evening July 20th, 7 pm at the Cypress Club
President Uwe also notified the club that the President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Alberta, Dave Tirpin would be speaking to the club on Monday August 22nd. This is a first, and a great excuse to invite a guest to the meeting.
Also, work is ongoing to have local entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Yuill address the club in Sept.
Prospective Members:
The club is actively recruiting new members. The membership committee, lead by Membership Director, Jenny Hetherington, would be happy to assist anyone who is considering proposing a member and would like feedback or help with the process. One of our Strategic Plan targets is to have 100 active, engaged members for our Centennial celebration in 2018.
Up Coming Events:
Information on the Waterton-Glacier Peace Park assembly was available at the front desk and a power point presentation was downloaded on the Club website. If you are interested, register on the assembly website for the Sept 16 - 18 event.
For more Club activities, to keep up with events and stay in touch, check the Club website at: www.medicinehatrotary.com
Everyone in attendance at the meeting will receive a ticket.
Donations can be made by anyone wishing to do so.
Keeping the payment voluntary, without removing the opportunity to participate, keeps the process outside the sphere of AGLC.
Whomever is the winner will collect any donated funds which are for the general operation of the club.
Today's lucky winner was Herman Wahl, who won a pair of wine goblets and coasters. Herman collected the table donations.
Club 500
$500 was won by Graham Kimberley, Saamis Rotary Club on a ticket sold by Adolf Seiler.
Make Ups

The Rotary Club of Medicine Hat was happy to welcome back one of our former exchange students, Baptiste Langlet from France. He is in Canada visiting friends he made during his exchange year, as well as having a holiday in the USA. He was "reintroduced" to the club by his councilor Milan Vujovic, and told us about what's been happening to him since he returned home. In the past two years he has completed his high school and his entrance examinations for Engineering school, which he will begin attending in Sept. He said returning home was nice, but he missed all the friends he had made here. He said he missed Milan the most, so he had to return.
Since he returned home, his sister has been away in Chile on a year long exchange, and his family visited her there and toured in Patagonia and Argentina. He has also been to Vietnam and other places in Europe with his family.
He will spend the last few weeks of this holiday in San Francisco and Los Angeles, with friends from school.
It was great to see him and everyone wishes him well on his future educational and career activities.
