Acting President Mike Christie welcomed all to the first Business Meeting of 2022.
On behalf of PP Mark Sorenson, Mike announced that Bruce Shephard has agreed to step into the Club position of President Elect from 1 July 2022. Bruce responded that he feels honoured, is looking forward to working for and with our Club, and has already had meetings with incoming President Melanie Harty.
This announcement was warmly welcomed by the members, as was the fact that Edward Lipin will join the 2022/2023 Board as a Director-at-Large. From the response of the members, it is clear that the incoming Board will have great support!
Incoming President Melanie shared with members that the Rotary International logo for the 2022/2023 Rotary year will be ‘Imagine Rotary’. She expressed support for the logo, pointing out how it encourages all members, those of long-standing and new members, to think about and express their hopes and dreams of what Rotary could be.
President Melanie encouraged members to attend both the District 5360 conference in Cochrane in May and the Rotary International convention in Houston in June (see dates below).
Melanie encouraged members to be active participants during Business Meetings, not just relying on the Board to report matters, but asking questions and expressing views, to make these meetings interactive.

Minute People:
Dave Panabaker thanked everyone who has already been out selling Club 1000 tickets. We have lots of tickets to sell and if you need more please contact Dave, Glen Presley or Doug Fleming. Sales of these tickets are our principle fundraising effort for the Rotary Music Festival each year, and we have until the beginning of March to sell them. The QR code will take you to our Credit Card site.
Dave also mentioned that ad's will appear in the Medicine Hat News on Feb 12th and Feb 19th, in the Marketplace supplement in both the Feb and Mar editions and will also appear in the Rotary Music Festival program. The team is trying to drum up additional support in the broader community. Currently approx. 1/4 of the tickets are sold and returned, many more books are being worked on and thanks to everyone who has participated.
The next Rotary bingo is Thursday evening, February 10. A sign up email has gone out and we are still in need of 3 workers for a full team.
An email went out to everyone for door monitor duty at the Music Festival. The link in the email is to a shared Google document that will allow you to sign up for a specific time.
