Dave Panabaker was chairing the meeting today. President Mark had decided that a week at a remote fishing camp in Northern Saskatchewan was just the right tonic for the isolation of COVID and working from home.
Dave provide a brief update on two issues. The first was the meal plan, our 3 week experiment with a bagged lunch and then a review of options and alternatives both at the Board and at the Club. The second related to the upcoming Club 1000 raffle season, which was approved at last weeks meeting. The raffle licence application will be forwarded to AGLC this week, and with any luck printed tickets will be available by the end of September. That is at least a month earlier than last year, and hopefully will help early sales. As well, he mentioned again that the prizes have been spread out over a greater number of winners, which should help with sales.
Dave also presented PP Margie Booyens with her "official" past President pin and also announced that the new Rotary theme pins for this year are available at the front desk. Please pick one up when you leave the meeting.

Minute People:
John John reminded Rotarians that our turn at a casino fundraiser is still set for this week, August 20-21. A provincial announcement on table gaming is expected on Tuesday. He thanked all those who had volunteers and we have a full slate for those two days. There are a number of AGLC changes with the ongoing health crisis, so cancellation is a possibility, but we are planning to go forward.

Four new Club members, Peter Mueller, Shalla Shaharyar, Igor Grujic and Impa Hiriyanna, are currently independently exploring needs in Medicine Hat community. They will pool their findings in August and decide, as a group, to which Association or group they will donate $1,000 on behalf of our Club. This initiative, focusing on local needs and community service, is how Past President Margie decided, with Board approval, to ‘spend’ her Presidential budget allocation. A presentation to the recipient organisation / group will be made by the four members, at a regular noon Monday meeting, possibly in September.
Theresa Eisenbarth has advised that the date for the Garage Sale in support of the MH High School Interact club is noon - 5 pm, on Saturday Sept 12. The sale will take place at the Sea-Can, behind the Bingo Hall. Volunteers will be needed to help set up the Tent and price items. If you are available on that date, please contact Theresa.
