President Mark welcomed everyone to this annual, special event in the Rotary year, the performance for our club from the winner of the Rotary Rosebowl trophy at the Music Festival. This year we welcome Josie Hoffarth, who will perform on the piano.
There were a number of guests at our meeting this evening, as well as many partners, so for a sunny summer Monday evening, it was a great turnout.
Rotary Club "What-z New":
A new club laptop is in our future, the current one will not provide the service required to stream our meetings.
If our hybrid meetings continue in the future, a few more meeting helpers will be required to help run cameras and sound. We are all learning as we go along here, but these type of meetings are manpower intensive.
Rotary Club Membership Update:
If you are interested in helping this working membership team, please contact Mike Christie.

Housekeeping:
Please collect club draw items. It is an important part of our meeting and the funds generated help to run the club.
If you have a Meeting Minute, please phone or email the Newsletter and we'll include it.
Board minutes can be found on ClubRunner, under Club Documents.
Upcoming Club Program, Activities, and Meetings
Weather permitting, we will hold an "in person" meeting on Monday June 28th in Rotary Park to celebrate the club's birthday and do the executive changeover. Mike Christie will arrange a ZOOM backup link, in case we need to stay at home. The meeting will be a bring your own chair and lunch event, as we did last year we'll meet near the Rotary Arch. Remember to social distance, bring a mask, but enjoy a beautiful Monday noon in the park. Our 2021-2022 Executive Induction will be done, as well as some other great year-end events.
The meeting on Monday July 5th is current planned as a ZOOM event, to prepare for a return to the MH Lodge the next week.
Upcoming Rotary District and International Events:
The next District 5360 Conference is a "single day" event in Canmore, on Saturday May 14, 2022
The Rotary International convention for 2021, originally scheduled in Taiwan will now be held VIRTUALLY as well. Watch for updates on registration and programs.
Future Programs:
The Rotary Club's Program Coordinator is Jillian Koch. If you have future program ideas, please email Jillian at jkoch@jmhca.com
The Rotary Club welcomed Josie Hoffarth and her parents to our meeting this evening, and enjoyed a performance of "3 Preludes" by G. Gershwin. Josie was the winner of the 2021 Rotary Rosebowl, a unique competition in that the entire Festival was put on virtually and the Rosebowl was performed without an audience and judging was done remotely. Josie was introduced by the President of the Music Festival Society, Milan Vujovic who described Josie as a "force", driven and determined. She is passionate about music and dance, as well as being a golf and silver medalist at her studies.
"Sitting still" is not in her vocabulary and she will begin a degree in Arts at the Medicine Hat College in the fall.
Josie finished by thanking everyone in the Rotary Club for the opportunity to perform, for the operation of the Music Festival over the past 65 years and for finding a way to have the Festival during this pandemic.
Club Draws will be restored at our "in person" meetings at the Medicine Hat Lodge, in mid-July.
Minute People:.

Dave Panabaker reminded everyone that next week's meeting (weather permitting) will be in Rotary Park, from noon to 1:00 pm. Please bring a lawn chair and your own lunch, we will be practicing social distancing but wanted to celebrate Rotary Park for our Executive Changeover.
President Mark reminded everyone that the dates for Rotary staffed events were sent out on Monday afternoon, our first bingo is Sunday evening, July 4th.
Dave Panabaker also announced that a blend of "in-person" meetings and "ZOOM" meetings are planned for July and August. Currently July 12th and July 19th and August 9th and 22nd are booked at the MH Lodge.
