President Terry Partis rearranged the order of the meeting "on the fly", to fit in our guest speaker, who had a few technical issues logging into the meeting.
On the "Move for Polio" front, Terry advised that our club is currently ranked 2nd in the District for contributions totaling a tremendous $7,225. Great work by everyone and thanks to all who donated. President Terry advised he has several checks that need to be added to our total and hopes to finish the event with close to $9,000 in donations from our club. If you wish to make a donation to our club for this fundraiser go to https://go.rotary5360gives.org/polio/b40a38/Team/Details That link will take you to the donation page for our Club.
President Terry mentioned that the fundraiser remains open until the end of October, so there is still time to make a donation. As a whole the District has raised over $54,000 for the End Polio Now campaign.
Rotary Club "What-z New":
As it is most likelyour hybrid meetings will continue in the future, a few more meeting helpers will be required to help run cameras and sound. We are all learning to adapt to this new reality. Any wishing to help should contact Mike Christie 403 878 3311.
Rotary Club Membership Update:
If you are interested in helping this working membership team, please contact Mike Christie. A new Membership Chair is needed, Mike is currently doing double duty with Community Service and it would be nice to lighten his load a bit.
There is always room for more interested Rotarians to join the membership team, check out a meeting and see how exciting it is.

Introduced by Community Services Director Mike Christie, and assisted in her presentation by Rotarian Brent Secondiak, the Rotary Club welcomed the Executive Director of the Sanare Centre, Christina Johnson. The Rotary Club has selected the Sanare Center as the focus of our Community Service work this year, and has successfully applied for a District Grant for work on the reception area of the new location of the Sanare Center, which is in the strip mall adjacent to the Thai Orchid restaurant.
Sanare Centre (Sanare means "to heal" in Latin) will be moving to this location over the winter months, with a hopefully opening date of March 31, 2022. Sanare will own this space, and will utilize the space for their Child Advocacy Center, which is a partnership of Alberta Health Services, the Medicine Hat Police Service, the RCMP, the Prosecutors office and Alberta Child Services.
Christine explained some of the history of Centre, and it's predecessor organizations. They have been in the community for 40 years, and since 2015 have been a "standalone" charity. They have grown to 17 staff and provide both trauma and triage service, as well as a variety of educational programs. It is an unfortunate reality that they have exceed their initial projection of helping 100 children per year, and are now at a rate to more than double that number. They have an experienced and skilled interview and counseling staff.
Christine answered a number of questions about their staff, their process and the need within the community.
Only our guest speaker, Christina Johnson wasn't a club member today, but a good turnout of 32 Rotarians.

Minute People:
On behalf of Dave Stalwick, who will chair the next Rotary Bingo on Thursday November 4, Dave Panabaker advised that the signup email would be out today.
Dave also advised that our AGLC license for the 2022 Club 1000 raffle has arrived and the tickets are in the process of being printed. Hopefully by the end of the week, Doug Fleming and Glen Presley will have tickets to distribute.
Dawn Barr advised that the social side of Rotary will come out on Thursday October 28th, 6 pm, as all of us are invited to a ZOOM "virtual" Octoberfest social. An invitation has been sent out this week, and Dawn's "strange" cousin Helga was in attendance to encourage or more likely scare us in to attendance. It will be a great event, there is a prize for the most "Octoberfest" costume, and should be a lot of fun. HELGA SAYS "BE THERE"!!!
Dan Kammerer advised that Wed Oct 27 is the next opportunity for club members to work a shift at Prairie Gleaners. The email invitation is out, and you must respond in advance that you are attending.
If you have not signed up as a member of the new Rotary Music Festival Society, please contact Anne Carrier soon. The next AGM is coming up, and a revised executive will be elected.
Milan Vujovic mentioned that Canadian Humanitarian has their annual fall gala coming up on Saturday November 19, at Medalta Pottery from 6 pm to 9 pm. He can arrange for tickets, or you can check out the CH website. https://trellis.org/beyondbelief21
