Rotary Presentation:
President Chris provided a thorough presentation and update on the Rotary Centennial Trail project outlining the history of the project, change requirements from the City of Medicine Hat impacting the project's impact, timelines and budgets, CFEP grant updates and the opportunity to enhance the trail project with a slight change in scope to include the construction of a new trail between South Boundary Road and Desert Blume (within the City of Medicine Hat city limits). The building of this trail was identified by both Cypress County and the City of Medicine Hat as a pressing community need due to the high traffic and pedestrian usage on the roadway and the unfortunate amount of accidents and deaths that have taken place as a result of vehicle and pedestrian traffic using the same road.
The proposed changes to the Rotary Centennial Trail project would also see a huge increase in community engagement, partners, and leveraged funding from Cypress County and other community groups. Ultimately, this would lead to a minimum of 6:1 leveraging, which demonstrates the leadership of Rotary and the ability to collaborate in the community to make a lasting legacy for years to come.
