Acting President Doug Fleming welcomed all to the first meeting of February 2022. Doug started the meeting speaking about the 117th anniversary of Rotary. The actual anniversary date is Feb 23, 1905. Doug quizzed the club with many questions on the start of Rotary and highlighted all the very positive events of this start for all of us.
Doug also mentioned that the Rotary theme for this month is "Peace Building and Conflict Resolution", and perhaps we can all hope for a little of that to be applied at home. Doug mentioned that the application form for the 2023 Rotary Peace Fellowships are currently available, a copy of the information was sent to every member. Our club has never sponsored one of these fellowships, but members were encouraged to think about someone who might qualify.
Rotary Club "What-z New":
As it is most likelyour hybrid meetings will continue in the future, a few more meeting helpers will be required to help run cameras and sound. We are all learning to adapt to this new reality. Any wishing to help should contact Mike Christie 403 878 3311.
Rotary Club Membership Update:
There is always room for more interested Rotarians to join the membership team, check out a meeting and see how exciting it is. The committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm, contact Mike Christie to join in.

Dave Panabaker thanked everyone who has already been out selling Club 1000 tickets. We have lots of tickets to sell and if you need more please contact Dave, Glen Presley or Doug Fleming. Sales of these tickets are our principle fundraising effort for the Rotary Music Festival each year, and we have until the beginning of March to sell them. The QR code will take you to our Credit Card site.
Dave also mentioned that ad's will appear in the Medicine Hat News on Feb 12th and Feb 19th, in the Marketplace supplement in both the Feb and Mar editions and will also appear in the Rotary Music Festival program. The team is trying to drum up additional support in the broader community. Currently approx. 1/4 of the tickets are sold and returned, many more books are being worked on and thanks to everyone who has participated.
