President Margie started this business meeting with a reminder that the Rotary theme for this month is Membership and New Club Development, and that our table discussions today will be around both those items. However, she did make a point of providing a substantial apology from Police Chief Andy McGrogan, who was to have been our speaker last week. He is very sorry to have missed the opportunity to speak to us, and has been rescheduled for the meeting of Monday November 4.
President Margie also provided the update that our NGSE student, Katharina Braess has arrived safely home and both she and her parents are very grateful for the effort of the NGSE committee and host families/employers who made her stay so memorable.

It was Past District Governor, Sandy Mackay's pleasure to present one of our newest Rotarians, Neil Mardian with his first Paul Harris Fellowship. As the Rotary Club of Medicine Hat is a 100% Paul Harris club, each new member is presented with a PHF from accumulated points from our generous donors to the Rotary Foundation.

The attendance draw this week was Gerry Nadeau, who has present to win a free meal.
The club draw this week was Kona Coffee provided by Dick Bide, and was won by Melanie Harty.
Club 500:
This announcement was forgotten at the meeting last week and so was mentioned again. The $1,500 draw for August was won by Dr Michael Wiegel, on a ticket sold by Ted Cowtan.
Make Ups:
The bingo team and the Rotary Board members were noted for credit.
Family of Rotary:
Adolf passed along that Joe Hrankowski was under the weather and the club sends "get well soon" greetings.
Minute People:
Dave Panabaker thanked the club on behalf of Syl Bellefeuille, with Sunrise Rotary and MH Family Services, for the use of the Rotary canopy for their "I scream for ice cream" event on Saturday. It was much appreciated.
Dave also reminded the club that the next bingo is Wednesday September 11th in the evening. An email invitation is coming out this week.
Club Treasurer Gail Halderman advised that the club has provided $1,000 in sponsorship to the "Little Britches Rodeo", taking place at the Dunmore Equestrian Center on Saturday September 9th.
Don Davis advised of an upcoming Strategic Planning meeting for the Rotary Music Festival Society, led by Mike Christie in September. He attended the recent Rotary Board meeting to speak about it.
Les Scholly took a minute to advertise an ongoing Sunrise Rotary fundraiser. They have had a personal blend of coffee made by the Roastery downtown and have 1/2 and 1 lb bags for sale.
Dick Bide mentioned that there is a "come and go" event at the Medicine Hat Golf Course clubhouse on Saturday Sept 7, from 2 pm - 4 pm to celebrate his 80th birthday.
President Margie also wanted the club to keep in mind, Tuesday September 3rd, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Ken Feser will give his classification talk at the Medicine Hat Public Library. It will started with coffee and a snack, and then Ken will talk about his career and the library programs. Sounds like a great program, don't miss it.
Along those same lines, President Margie mentioned that Dan Kammerer will do his classification talk at Prairie Gleaners, on Saturday September 14 from 9:45 to 11:15 am. A great opportunity to see the facility, which has been spoken of at the club, and hear about another new club members passion.
