President Melanie Harty chaired our Nov 7th meeting. She welcomed the 16 in attendance and 5 on Zoom. As this a business meeting, all Directors in attendance were asked to update their areas of involvement.
Mike C was first to outline activities such as Team Freewheel. This project headed by Terry C repairs older bikes and donates these to people or associations in need. Terry advised that the team Freewheel will operate during the winter on one day a week that being Thursday mornings at 9:00 and all are welcome to attend and help in this project. Mike also talked about the trail system and the signage that is now in place. He also talked about the Prairie Gleaners and reminded us that on Nov 24th major grants will be announced and presented at that location.
Bruce Shepard talked about our Strategic Plan for the club.
The plan has been ongoing project of which is now completing a full review on what's working, changes required, our current needs and opportunities. He will condense the old lengthy plan in to a new 5-page plan focusing on the essentials or "were the rubber hits the road". Bruce highlighted that we would review/confirm the Vision and Mission of our club as well as the current condition of our club.
We all agreed that Covid has had an effect on our club over the past 3 years as well as things like our reducing membership and aging members. Bruce will provide a new proposal to the board within a week. The board will review and then prepare a plan to be presented to the club by months end. The new plan will also include (among others) the need for more social activities that would include partners, additional focus on youth activities as well as our continuing focus on RI, Music festival and other charitable ventures.
A lively discussion followed with good questions, answers, suggestions and a commitment to work on the new plan.
Melanie reminded all that the following meeting on Monday 14 November will be at the Root Cellar. We are looking forward to a tour of the center and an update on the operations. The gathering will start at noon, and partners are welcome. Please Park on the street, the Corona does not allow Root Cellar parking in their lot.
