Program Committee member Sharon H has organized with the Veiner Centre that we stuff Christmas stockings for vulnerable people, once again this year.

Planning is still underway, but we're hoping to have our regular club meeting at noon in a meeting room at the Veiner Centre, after which we can do the stocking stuffing.

Somewhere in between, we can descend on the Bistro for something to eat!

Details will be firmed up nearer the time - but please put Monday 15 December in your schedules - noon meeting followed by an hour or two of stocking stuffing.

It will be fun - bring friends to help!

On this date, we will have a Police Officer giving a talk on aspects of FRAUD.

Sergeant Adam Gregory is in the Community Support Unit.

He will speak on Fraud trends and tips.

Isadora Brum Nesi (from District 4640 in Brazili) will attend our February Business Meeting and will give a brief talk on herself, her family, Brazil, and her New Generations Service Exchange Program.

We'll be visiting the Downtown Library on Monday 9 February.

Chief Librarian Ken Feser and various staff members will address us on library programs, challenges etc.

Do invite family and friends to accompany you - it will be an interesting visit to a very important resource in our community.

February is Rotary International's Peace Building and Conflict Resolution month.

We have made arrangements to have Lorelei Higgins as guest speaker - online or, if we are lucky, she and her partner Doug Webb (RC of Calgary Downtown) may attend in person.

Her topic: " How Does Peace Grow?"

We will have a Business Meeting on Monday 2 March.

Added to the agenda will ble the 'classification' / introductory talk by one of our new members.

We will be holding it in the downtown Library Theatre on Monday 27 April, from 06:00pm.

Diana Monet is the winner of the Rotary Music Festival Rosebowl 2026.

She will play a number of piano pieces... and a duet with her sister, Miriam, winner of the 2025 RMF!

On Monday 4 May, we will have our usual monthly BUSINESS MEETING - plus the pleasure of Lisa Dressler's 'classification' / introductory talk.

No guests, just as many members as possible, to hear Lisa's interesting personal story!

We are taking the initiative this year, to organize a BBQ for all Rotarians in Medicine Hat, plus family and friends, at the Kinette Picnic Shelter in Kin Coulee, on Thursday 21 May!

South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Museum Tour

The Regimental Museum is happy to be hosting the Rotary Club for a guided tour of the Regimental Museum.  The Museum illustrates the long history of the South Alberta Light Horse and the units it perpetuates.  Museum Docents will be available for questions.

From 1885 to today a military presence has been a huge part of the development of Medicine Hat as a vibrant community.  The contributions of local citizens serving in the Regiment during times of conflict and emergency are noted through displays and information placards. 

There will be displays relating to various periods of time in the history of the Regiment, including.

-An early pre 1900 display that will tell the story of the earliest military unit in Medicine Hat.

-An accurate depiction of a World War One Trench system. 

- Uniforms worn by soldiers of all eras. 

-Personal stories of men who served overseas and their contributions to the Regiment and the soldiers they served with. 

-The South Alberta Regiment’s Major David Vivian Currie is highlighted as the only Victoria Cross winner from the unit. 

-Medicine Hat’s very own Danny McLeod featured prominently as well.

-You will see radio equipment used by the Regiment as well as see how the Regiment nearly ceased to exist. 

-Service of South Alberta Light Horsemen in United Nations and NATO Missions, including Afghanistan

-There will be a small memorial for local soldier lost in Afghanistan as well as members of the Regiment who served there. 

-Through several emergency events in Medicine Hat the South Alberta Light Horse stepped up to help protect our community.

Additionally, soldiers of the South Alberta Light Horse will be presenting some of the equipment they use and our docents will explain some of the history of Patterson Armoury.

All of this can be seen at the South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Museum on the afternoon of June 8^th.
