MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Le but de la réunion était de planifier les affaires du Club. Oops!
President Mike opened the meeting with a note of an email received from India congratulating our club on 107 years of Rotary service in Medicine Hat. He also mentioned that the monthly Rotary Them for Juen is fellowship. It also seems that June is a good month for members and family to get new hips!  We want to wish all good recovery and great health in healing.

Dave Stalwick is away but drafted a motion for a vote in two weeks time to stabilize a consistent location for our meetings as follows:
“The CORE Association meeting room be the new permanent meeting room for our regular meetings.”
More communications is upcoming on this matter.

The Board met recently, and several issues were discussed. A key issue was the approval of honorary membership policy and membership fees.  The latter issue is the necessity to have those members who wish to leave the club communicate with the board in an effective manner to help reduce costs as Regional fees are based on membership numbers. If a member simply leaves the club by not paying their dues, this leaves the club with an obligation to pay for that member for an extra year out of general funds.

Anne has taken over the relationship with Interact and is working with Tiffany Adams to continue to encourage young people to work with Rotary on issues related to Rotary efforts. She advised that there will not be a dinner this year. However, six members will attend our lunch meeting of Monday 9 June and have requested our individual support to the Root Cellar. There will also be discussions on Scholarships. Due to the need for students to get back to school on time, President Mike requested members be ready to start the meeting on time.

Margie mentioned that the meeting will also include a 15 minute presentation on the Stampede organization by their president Ron Edwards.

Kitt reported a fund-raising opportunity to order lobster and other seafood whereby 15% of the sales would be donated to our club. She stated we could do this twice a year for example in the months in the months October and May.

Dawn reported an opportunity for the Monarch theatre to have an Elvis Presley impersonator perform where by profits could go to the theatre upkeep.

Anne added that members of three clubs were providing support to the Monarch flipping burgers. Brian reported profits of $2,000 that can cover the repairs of six toilets.

Odessa Vermee is requesting assistance to pack loads of fabric to move to her new location. She welcomes those volunteers on Tuesday June 17 at noon.

  • A few more meeting helpers are required. We ared to run cameras and sound during our hybrid meetings. Anyone wishing to help should contact President Mike Christie 403 878 3311.
