MONARCH 1911 SOCIETY
As many Rotarians will know, our club, in cooperation with the Saamis Rotary Club and the Friends of the Monarch Society, has been working on restoring both the structure and the programming at the historic Monarch movie theatre on 2nd St S.E, Medicine Hat.
Our club will try to keep track of events on at the Monarch, to give members a heads-up that the opportunity to serve exists. If you are interested, please let Rotarian Janessa Anderson (403-952-1907) know and she can provide details of available shifts and responsibilities.
Volunteering at a show is a great way to connect with the community and support the historic local landmark.
The next event at the Monarch is a showing of the Princess Bride, on Friday Sept 26, doors open at 6:30 pm and admittance is $5.00 (cash only)

South Alberta Collegiate offers diverse academies including flight, trades, fire and rescue, baseball, agriculture, rodeo, and softball, aiming to provide transformative, world-class experiences for students in Southeast Alberta. All academies focus on fostering positive childhood experiences to promote development into productive adults.
The flight academy, with about 30% female participation, offers pilot licenses at half the external cost and includes partnerships with airlines and manufacturers. In addition to pilot's licences, the academy has opportunities for students to learn about aircraft maintenance - under supervision the students have built two Vans RV 22 aircraft and are going to be starting on a third. When complete, the aircraft are fully certified as safe to fly be Transport Canada. The trades program supports rural students from grade 10 to 12, while a new Agricultural Center with extensive equipment training as well as crop management is planned on 78 acres of land near Dunmore. Fire graduates earn Level 2 NFPA certification and are qualified for immediate employment.
Thank you Dr. Weeks for providing an informative overview of an innovative and dynamic education resource in our community.
